Growing the 3D Web
May 26, 2017 Mountain View, California
Prepare to be amazed by the depth and breadth of the Web3D graphics community at the 22nd annual Web3D 2017 Conference in Brisbane, Australia (5-7 June 2017). This influential international conference emphasizes the importance of Virtual and Augmented Reality and 3D Graphics in a wide range of application domains through presentations, tutorials, and discussions. Join us to grow the 3D Web!
2017 is a historic year for 3D on the Web. We are seeing the explosion of WebVR and the potential of WebAR just around the corner. With WebGL now widely supported by default in modern browsers, tools such as X3D, X3DOM, Cobweb, three.js, glTF, and A-Frame VR are allowing nearly anyone to create Web3D content. Commercial game engines such as Unity and Unreal are starting to offer ways to export and publish directly to the 3D Web.
Web3D 2017 is a major annual event which unites researchers, developers, entrepreneurs, experimenters, artists and content creators in a dynamic learning environment. Attendees share and explore methods of using, enhancing and creating new 3D Web and Multimedia technologies. The conference program (www.web3d2017.org/program) brings its signature top-quality Papers, Master Classes, Workshops, and a live showcase all into an action-packed three days. From Virtual Reality to Web publishing. Learn more about their visions for a 3D future from inspiring Keynote Speakers: Blair McIntyre, Elizabeth Barron, Tony Parisi, Mark Pesce, Michela Ledwidge, and Neil Trevett web3d2017.web3d.org/speakers. Join us as we grow the 3D Web! Preceding the conference, the Web3D Consortium is also organizing another exciting Virtual Reality Hackathon at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
Web3D 2017 is an ACM-sponsored event organized in cooperation with the Web3D Consortium with support from multiple additional sponsors. Web3D Consortium’s Extensible 3D (X3D) Graphics Standard (http://www.web3d.org/x3d/what-x3d) provides a robust and durable medium for implementation of interactive multimedia 3D systems on the Web. X3D is the leading royalty-free ISO Standard for 3D on the Web. We are open to all: companies, universities, agencies and individuals are welcome to join the Web3D Consortium. The Web data-integration capabilities and rich set of componentized features for X3D are steadily expanding through community participation. Join us and contribute to the development of version 4.0 of the standard, which is defining the integration of X3D into HTML5. There has never been a better time to join the Consortium (http://www.web3d.org/join) and build 3D into the Web.
The Web3D Consortium is a member-driven and funded open consortium involved in many technical initiatives across the 3D value chain. The Consortium is committed to the creation and deployment of open, royalty-free standards that enable the communication of real-time 3D on the Web.
