Beyond Boundaries: the 23rd Annual Web3D Conference - Poznan, Poland
This June brings the annual showcase event for the advancement of the Web3D graphics community at the 23nd Web3D 2018 Conference at the Poznan University of Economics and Business in Poznan, Poland (June 20-22, 2018). The international ACM-SIGGRAPH conference theme of “3D Everywhere” will emphasize new innovations and applications of Virtual and Augmented Reality and 3D Graphics through papers, presentations, tutorials, and panel discussions.
Web3D 2018 is a major annual event which unites researchers, developers, entrepreneurs, experimenters, artists and content creators in a dynamic learning environment. Attendees share and explore methods of using, enhancing and creating new 3D Web and Multimedia technologies from Virtual Reality to Web publishing. 2017 was a historic year for 3D on the Web. In 2018, consumer hardware platforms have opened exciting new channels to deliver rich interactive 3D experiences for work and entertainment. The stabilization WebVR and WebAR along with WebGL now widely supported by default in modern browsers, tools such as X3D, X3DOM, X_ITE, three.js, glTF, and A-Frame VR are allowing nearly anyone to create and consume rich Web3D content. Commercial game engines such as Unity and Unreal are starting to offer ways to export and publish directly to the 3D Web.
The Conference Program (www.web3d2018.org/program) brings its signature top-quality Papers, Tutorials, Workshops, and a live showcase all into an action-packed three days. This is an ACM-sponsored event organized in cooperation with the Web3D Consortium. Web3D Consortium’s Extensible 3D (X3D) Graphics Standard (http://www.web3d.org/x3d/what-x3d) provides a robust and durable medium for implementation of interactive multimedia 3D systems on the Web. X3D is the leading royalty-free ISO Standard for 3D on the Web. We are open to all: companies, universities, agencies and individuals are welcome to join the Web3D Consortium. The Web data-integration capabilities and rich set of componentized features for X3D are steadily expanding through community participation. Join us and contribute to the development of version 4.0 of the standard, which will define the integration of X3D into HTML5. There has never been a better time to join the Consortium (http://www.web3d.org/join) and build 3D into the Web.
