KAIST Logo

Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) was established in 1971 as the nation’s first graduate school specializing in science and engineering education and research. The school’s founding was a catalyst for Korea’s rapid rise from a producer of light industry goods to a world leader in high-technology industries.

Research emphasis from the outset has been put on both theoretical and applied studies. KAIST continues to be Korea’s foremost center for mid- to long-term strategic R&D projects with national and international significance. The University has pioneered the establishment of competitive graduate school programs in Korea.

KIST Logo

Founded in 1966, KIST is a premier multi disciplinary research institute in Korea. Our goal is to research, develop, and transfer creative, original technologies that are necessary to advance our nation’s science and technology base. Specifically, we focus on fusion technologies that will propel Korea’s economic growth, especially in the areas of environment, energy, health, security, and materials.

KIST will continue to proactively foster partnerships with industries, universities, and research institutes. It is our firm belief that through such cooperation we can grasp rapidly changing trends in S&T field as well as accumulate and disseminate knowledge that will enhance the wellbeing of our citizens.
