Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
ISO and IEC maintain terminological databases for use in standardization at the following addresses:
— ISO Online browsing platform: available at www.iso.org/obp
— IEC Electropedia: available at www.electropedia.org
virtual character serving as the representative of a real character
thing or person to which action is directed or upon which something operates
virtual apparel or garments to fit a humanoid avatar (reference paper)
specification of movement restrictions for an HAnim figure
site for use by inverse kinematics (IK) systems
property or attribute of an object
surface feature on the body or skin, providing a useful relative location or making a significant contribution to overall appearance
articulated 3D representation that depicts an animated character as defined in this document
single HAnim figure
position in an HAnim figure where articulation may occur
mathematical process of recovering the movements of an object in the world from some other data
degree of fidelity based on number of joints in an HAnim figure
elemental data type that contains a set of fields of other data types and/or other objects
a specific named set of Joint rotation, translation, and scale values for the geometric model of an HAnim figure
(editorial: questionable) captured at a moment in time at a location
humanoid figure posture for the initial geometric model of an HAnim figure
offered for discussion:
complete set of Joint rotation, translation, and scale values
alternative:
an interpretation/adoption of the described stationary positioning (pose) or described action
(i.e., body positions while sitting in a model of a vehicle or while running),
complete set of Joint rotation, translation values of an HAnim figure, i.e., LOA2
TODO: this second definition is too detailed and complex to be easily repeatable.
TODO: it will be helpful to define descriptions and functionality that we will want to achieve with posture.
system capable of displaying and manipulating an HAnim figure
entire skeletal structure created after model geometry is completed
portion between joints of an HAnim figure that represents geometry and appearance
feature point or location of semantic interest within an HAnim figure, associated either with skeleton or skin
For the purposes of this document, the following expansion of acronyms and abbreviated terms apply:
placement, alignment, rotation, curvature, and symmetry
