“glTF puts skin weights into groups of 4, but you can have any number of
groups. three.js currently supports only the first group, so 4 weights per
vertex total.” —Don McCurdy on Discord Khronos server #gltf-blender.
He has not verified the export script option, but I’m guessing he’s tested
the GUI.
The export GUI references Bone influences under skinning:
