This is a great idea, thank you Holger. I will think about how the best accomplish that. Seems like a good idea for that information to be included in the X3D Tooltips as well.

Another related piece of information that should already be found in the tooltips hints: whether an  SFTime value is an actual time or a duration.

X3DUOM describes the nodes and fields and provides useful information about them. How about to include information about which unit category a field belongs to. For instance there could be a new attribute ‚unit‘ or ‚unitCategory‘ for some fields, which can have a value from standard units or derived units.
