No.  A superset.  H-anim is the skeletal system as I recall but I've not
looked in a while so correct me if I'm wrong.  A more comprehensive standard
would enable behaviors to be more portable across worlds, possibly includes
means such as the Avatar proto for specifying gestures, might include means
to create cross-cultural avatars, culture-specific avatars and so on.

That is the question I'm asking:  what do you need to do with avatars in a
more cross-world way that can't be done today?  It's a topic that IBM is
mentioning and we've talked about here before.  I suspect they are more
aware of this community's thinking than they let on as experienced poker
players.

Are you asking for a subset of H-Anim? 
What is the advantage? 
For the best, X3D for humanoid characters, look at Flux Studio. 
This is the best X3D humanoid stuff right now.
