My feelings are mixed about this project.
Anyone willing to devote resources to 3D desktop
deserves credit for trying...

But Sun is taking a hard and
perhaps even untenable path.

VR represents a cognitive collision
between the concepts of interface and
of environment.

Interfaces are 
immediate, (ie GOMS)
under your control, 
seek transparency

Environments are
experiential (ie Life)
drive your behavior,
seek to be immersive

this division isn't insurmountable,
but maybe it should be better understood
and so allow the digital/virtual
affordances of meduim exploited.
