What Intel decide to do is their business.
They have decided to pursue their business interests in a closed
membership group that is working solely on Intel technology - that's their
prerogative.

away some of the mis-communication and invite participation so we can make

That's great. A part of making
that happen is show the larger players we are a forward-looking community,
working effectively to prime the pump for market breakout in this segment

Hi Neil, Good to hear from you!
Trust me, this not personal.
This is my attempt to keep the revisionist from rewriting history. Since
1998, you have said pretty much the same thing—we NEED companies. But
then we get large companies like Intel (I have listed many others) at the
table and interested in the work of the Consortium and then suddenly they
are gone and all the same people remain making inuindo about those who
can’t play well with others. This has been a law of
diminishing returns since 2000. I still have every intention
of using Web3D technologies and if X3D ever matures or secures larger players
then I will figure out a way to use it in my projects. I appreciate Allan’s
email. It was a very clear explaination of where we are and of what is
happening—including the part about having felt left out in the past. Best wishes, Linda
Please - don't make things personal. The bigger point is we NEED
companies to "make a business model out of writing standards".
We NEED companies to be engaged to develop great products on the
back of our standards. Our problem is we don't have ENOUGH companies
that care to do this - goes back to my earlier before the chasm comments
- but we CAN move froward through an understand of at what stage this market
is at..
