RE: [www-vrml] vrml 2 vrml communications
I'm not saying it is separable. I'm saying .Net is not C#.
I guess someone could implement C# apart from .Net. but .Net
is useful without C#.
Yes, what makes a language useful is the libraries.
I'm in a universe-of-the-moment that dictates I learn
C#. This isn't X3D related but I hope to change that
whenever possible. I can see a future for it but it
has to work with C# business objects.
BTW: what do you think of the .mono implementation?

Len,
I actually like C# .NET . I use both the free ms sdk and the mono
implementation.
I don't see how C# is seperate from .NET ? Thats like saying that java
is somehow useful without all its extensive libraries/packages. C#
without its .NET libraries
is pretty much nothing. I could write my own language and compiler like
I did in university an interesting assignement / project but altogether
worthless to any one else. What makes a a programming language useful is
its supporting libraries. I am hoping the mono implementation of C#
progresses well so I can use C# more frequently in my projects.

Java is as good across the platforms as the implementations are
consistent. That is how the term "Write One Debug Everywhere"
came into being. I'm not kicking it per se. Just noting the
engine issue, and that .Net isn't a competitor to Java in the
same way as C# is.

Len,
are you trying to say that Java is not a good cross-platform solution ?
I have been using
java for this very purpose for years (linux, solaris and windows) so far
it has worked very well for me.
Care to qualify that ?
