RE: [www-vrml] X3D and the Draconian Parse Rule

Actually it will. The alternative is to not
conform to XML parse rules and that would be
a much more major problem. If 3D productivity
apps are to be reliable, they have to be predictable.
XML has set expectations and every time that
argument starts with regards to lazy parsing,
the lazy advocates lose because the experience
shows the decision to be draconian at the level
of the syntax is right.

We've all been on this road for ten years. We
know market share is about many different issues.
The only easy part of VRML was 1.0 and that was
because very few people were paying attention
and the market was awash in VC money. Anyone
still here is a survivor. It's about applications
now.

Sure but getting everybody doing that was what the browser workgroup was
supposed to be all about? Did it accomplish anything?

Maybe pessimistic was the wrong word to use

But its true, the history of this speaks volumnes on why draconian parsing
wont work:
It doesn't help gain market share
