[www-vrml] X3D list for Web3D members focusing on X3D development and specification

Hello,

We have started a new mailing list for Web3D.org Consortium members that is specifically focused on X3D development issues or suggestions/enhancements related to the X3D specification and extensions: X3D

This will be the primary discussion venue for consortium members and the X3D specification team, so I encourage you to join as soon as possible. This list is focused on X3D development and moving VRML applications to X3D.

Please note that this list is a members-only list; you must be a Web3D member to join and you must agree to agree to be bound by the Consortium's Policy on Intellectual Property Rights. ( http://www.web3d.org/membership/ipr.html )

To sign up for the X3D list, Web3D Consortium members can log into the Consortium Member Login ( http://www.web3d.org/membership/login/ ) or Student Members Login ( http://www.web3d.org/membership/studentlogin/ ) areas of the website.

If you are not already a student, professional, academic, or company consortium member, I encourage you to sign-up or renew at:

Other Web3D Consortium Member Email Lists Include:

â CAD - Develop the CAD distillation format to enable complex 3D CAD data to be simplified and seamlessly integrated into common desktop applications and web services.

â GEOSPATIAL - Develop tools and recommended practices for the representation of geographical data using X3D, extending on GeoVRML.

â H-ANIM - Technical discussions and feedback about the Humanoid Animation specification and application integration.

â MED - Develop the MedX3D format for representing human anatomy based on a wide variety of imaging modalities.

â SOURCE - Develop implementations and utilities for the X3D specification.

â X3D-BINARY - Develop an encoding of X3D to enable advanced compression of 3D data to shorten the transmission time of models and scenes across a network and a data encryption scheme to protect sensitive model information.

â X3D-CONFORMANCE - Develop the X3D Conformance Program to define standards for consistent and bug free implementations.

â X3D-SHADERS - Develop specifications for integrating high-level procedural shading into X3D.

â X3D - Discussions about implementing X3D in applications, as well as discussion about the X3D specification and enhancements.

â XMSF-X3D (online soon) - Integrate simulation frameworks with XML and X3D to enable sophisticated, web-based, distributed visual simulations.

<x-tad-bigger>Don't forget the public X3D Message Boards!</x-tad-bigger>
<x-tad-bigger>We strongly e</x-tad-bigger>ncourage all member to participate in the Public user to user message boards!

This is an excellent way for non-members and members to share expertise and code examples.
