[www-vrml] Re: some questions about X3D

Hi Andrea,

I'm not sure.
NewTek are at http://www.newtek.com/
I bought Lightwave years ago when I used to have that fabled substance called money. :) The old VRML plugin I have for exporting VRML from Lightwave is really not too good and I gave up using it. Much better, in my opinion is AccuTrans, by the quite brilliant Wayne Hogue -- see http://www.micromouse.ca/

AccTrans *already* outputs to X3D, as well as reading and writing an astonishing array of other formats.

When I bought my copy of AccuTrans, years ago, it didn't support conversion of textures from Lightwave, but then NewTek's own converter didn't do that properly either, so I usually fitted textures on later. I haven't got the latest version of AccuTrans yet, but it might support textures now. Unlike many big companies, Wayne is continually upgrading and improving his product, and yet retains a very low price on it.

Be patient with its unorthodox interface. This amazing program has been around since the days of Amiga computers.

Best wishes,

	- Miriam

I would use X3D, and I'm sure other people would too if it were an export plugin for the 3D modeler animation package they use.
Not everyone uses Maya or 3Dstudio Max...there are a lot of people working in Lightwave. Who could the consortium contact at Newtek to get X3D as an export from Lightwave?
