Do you have any link to that renderer (and to sources, licensing info etc.)?

yep, cause the default sandbox model (no access to dangerous OS features
like writing to files etc.) for unsinged Java applets is considered secure,
afaik there are Java applet viruses arround exploiting some vendors' JVM
bugs (luckily the recent Sun Java VMs have an autoupdate feature, plus Sun
has had agreement with MS that MSJava will be updated [via WindowsUpdate]
till 2007 for any security holes found in the future)
