X3D has been defined since 1998. Trademark registration pending. VRML is the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML), International Standard ISO/IEC 14772-1:1997. XML is the Extensible Markup Language (XML), a Recommendation of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
