Planet 9 to Release Virtual Cities 2007 at Siggraph 2007 in San Diego.
Planet 9 Studios, the leading supplier of 3D city data and software, has released for licensing a set of 50 digital city models optimized for mobile applications including cell phones, car navigation systems and GPS devices.
The models are available in all popular formats and are the only 3D city datasets optimized and ready for use in mobile applications. The city models are tightly coupled with Planet 9s RayGun mobile GPS software application and also work with other popular applications such as Google Earth and nVidia’s new NorthStar mobile platform. Planet 9 CEO, David Colleen, will be speaking about Virtual Cities 2007 at Siggraphs Carto BOF on Tuesday August 7th at 12:30 PM, Room 29B and showing Virtual Cities 2007 at booth 029.
Our city models are used in a wide variety of applications including backdrops for the recent hit movie Zodiac, design simulations of the new World Trade Center for Gene Kaufmann Architects in New York and for soldier tracking systems for Boeing and the US Army David Colleen notes. We are bringing Second Life style social networking together with real world placesall set in Google Earth style interfaces.
Virtual Cities 2007 have been in development for twelve years. Planet 9s 50th city is Philadelphia, shown above.
