Menlo Park, CA July 27, 2009—SIGGRAPH 2009 the biggest graphics industry gathering is just days away and Web3D Consortium is geared up to showcase innovative X3D solutions for the web and wow the 3D graphics community.
The consortium celebrates a decade of innovation and durability. Use of X3D systems has increased steadily over time throughout the world, delivering durable applications in industry, science, medicine, culture, entertainment and education. Because X3D is a direct evolution of Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML), worlds and scenarios authored over ten years ago still run today and are faster than ever.
X3D is straightforward to implement, easy to learn, and provides the basis for building sharable content. X3D is a scene graph representation and behavior model that sits a layer above OpenGL or DirectX renderers. With X3D, developers can build rich environments for their data without needing to understand low-level graphics APIs - X3D players handle the interface to the graphics system.
The Web3D Consortium will have its ever popular Web3D Tech Talk on Wednesday August 5th from 3:30 - 5:30 PM to excite, educate, and engage you in the latest 3D graphics developments. Come see Consortium members showcase incredible X3D and VRML content. Their interoperable X3D applications across several platforms will send a message that X3D is indeed - the only ISO certified open standard available today for Real-Time 3D graphics on the Web.
Take a break from the show floor and join the Web3D community to experience this innovative 3D graphics technology and network with leading Web3D technologist and authors.
Be sure to visit the Consortium members in booth 2029 where all these X3D technologies will be demonstrated.
Experience Bitmanagement’s textured 3D models of complete cities constructed automatically and visualized with the high performing BS Contact GeoVRML/X3D viewer interactively on the web. Bitmanagement will also presents realtime content viewed with BS Contact Stereo on a new 2D/3D gamer screen.
Fraunhofer will amaze you with its augmented reality demonstration using pre-computed radiance transfer to simulate reflection of surrounding real light on the virtual object that is merged into the real scene and X3D applications playing on the iPhone.
Yumetech will be demonstrating a variety of applications developed using its Open Source toolkits. Explore worlds integrating X3D Earth landscapes and complete city models from content providers such as Planet 9. Engineers from Yumetech will show you how these and many other technologies can be deployed as industry-specific configuration applications, and model generation for 3D printing.
While at the booth pick up your own X3D Showcase DVD packed with free X3D resources that introduce you to X3D. Explore these resources and see how you can use X3D for your real-time 3D graphic needs.
Consortium members will also be presenting several Birds of the Feather at SIGGRAPH 2009. More information on all the Web3D Consortium events at SIGGRAPH 2009 is available at Web3D at SIGGRAPH 2009.
Come visit us at SIGGRAPH 2009 and see the latest real-world 3D applications and content, and find out how you can use X3D for your real-time 3D graphics needs!
About the Web3D Consortium:
The Web3D Consortium is a member-funded industry consortium committed to the creation and deployment of open, royalty-free standards that enable the communication of real-time 3D across applications, networks, and XML web services. The Consortium works closely with the ISO, MPEG and has active projects with DICOM, KHRONOS and W3C standardization bodies to maximize market opportunities for its membership.
