Web3D and OGC to build cohesive standards for location-based 3D Web visualization services

The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) and the Web3D Consortium have updated their agreement to build cohesive, durable standards that work together. This agreement provides membership sharing and enables OGC and Web3D Consortium members to collaborate in cooperating Working Group development activities. The goal is to align the Web3D Consortium’s X3D standard with OGC standards to improve location-based 3D visualization.

Web3D Consortium to showcase open standards multi-user applications for the Web at Engage 2009

The Web3D Consortium will showcase innovative, open standards based multi-user 3D applications at the Engage virtual worlds show in San Jose, California September 23-24, 2009. The Consortium is also announcing a call for participation to assist in developing the "last mile" of it's full featured, open standards based multi-user platform specification focused on open chat and server technologies.
