MMVR(Medicine Meets Virtual Reality) is the premier forum for computer scientists and physicians who develop, refine, and promote advanced, data-centered tools for medical and surgical simulation and information-guided diagnosis and therapy, along with supporting technologies: imaging, modeling, haptics, visualization, robotics, and informatics.

At the conference January 26-29, 2005, there will be several presentations and panels (see pdf program brochure) on the early efforts of the Web3D Consortium’s Medical Working Group to develop an open source, interoperable standard for rendering 3D images from cross-sectional medical image data (CT, MRI) and continue a dialog with the advanced imaging and Modeling and Simulation communities to produce a standard that will allow the rapid rendering, segmentation and display of image data from any patient.
