Award-winning Web 3D authoring software imports Google Earth file format; Google SketchUp and 3D Warehouse Media Machines users can now share their 3D models and worlds in a Web browser. San Francisco, CA - February 27, 2007 - Media Machines, Inc., a leading provider of 3D virtual worlds software and services for the Web, today announced the final release of their new software tools, Flux Player 2.0 and Flux Studio 2.0. Flux Player 2.0 is an award-winning and now! open source Web browser plugin (1.5MB) for viewing and playing real-time 3D content and virtual worlds in Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers. Flux Player 2.0 works with Windows XP and Vista and now supports streaming audio and video, including mp3, mpg, wmv, and avi files. Flux Player 2.0 now also supports 2D Layers, allowing for the creation of graphic overlays such as heads-up displays (HUDs) widely used in game and virtual world user interfaces. Flux Studio 2.0 is a 3D authoring application for creating virtual content, worlds, games and gadgets.

With the new release of Open ActiveWrl a port to ArtToolKit has been included. The PC-mouse is mapped to the 3D-space of the virtual scene and therefore all interactive elements of the VRML/X3D-scene, like TouchSensors and DragSensors are working. You can directly load your VRML/X3D-File into the artCyberle-Browser component and interact with it. Furthermore the new release includes several bug fixes.

Archipelis Designer is a software that creates 3D models in a novel manner: Just draw the contour of the various shapes of the model (for example the head, the body, the legs, etc) and Archipelis Designer automatically merges them and applies a texture. The new v1.1 supports export to .x3d.

RTI has released a Windows’s beta version of their cross-platform 3D model viewer plugin for the Firefox web browser. While It meets core compliance, in a few weeks it should be Interchange compliant. The plug-in employs a high-performance rendering engine to display X3D, VRML97 and OpenFlight models in a Firefox browser window. The plugin also supports frame-accurate MPEG-1 video capture of the model being viewed. The resulting video can be observed in any standard movie viewer. The plugin is built in part on the open source X3DToolkit.
