X3D Plugfest

Date: Mar 04-Mar 04, 2009
Location: NASA Ames - Moffett Field, California

Overview

X3D Content Authors and Browser Vendors/Creators:  X3D Plugfest at Web3D Consortium Members Meeting, Wednesday, March 4th, 2009, at the NASA Ames research facility in Moffett Field, CA.

Come join another Plugfest to test X3D browser and content interoperability. This event will test how different browsers play the same content. Bring your browser, creative work or challenging code to help improve X3D specification wording and compliance. Specification authors and browser implementers will come together to debate the finer points of the X3D specification and to defend their interpretations. The goal of this event is to have a better understanding of what content works similarly between browsers and where the X3D specification and implementations need more work.

The X3D Plugfest will be held at the Web3D Consortium Members Meeting, Wednesday, March 4th, 2009, at the NASA Ames research facility in Moffett Field, CA. More information and directions are available at: 2009 Web3D Members Meeting

Please submit your problem content at: 2009 X3D Plugfest Content. The deadline to submit content is Friday March 1st 2009. Pre submission is strongly recommended, as this will allow time to review the material beforehand. If conditions permit, material submitted at the event will be considered. If you wish to participate or need more information please contact Web3D Executive Director anita.havele@web3d.org.

We expect to uncover the following types of issues:
* Browser Bugs
* Specification interpretation issues>
* Specification Errors
* Invalid Content

We’d like to concentrate on X3D Interactive and Immersive level content, but Scripts and Protos are also encouraged.
Include a description of the problem and the results from the browsers you’ve tested.  Specify whether the content can be released publically or just distributed to browser implementers for testing.

A report will be generated from the X3D Plugfest detailing the issues found and the recommendations.
