X3D: The Real-Time 3D Solution for the Web

Siggraph 2008 Web3D Tech Talk Podcast

The Web3D Consortium celebrates its 10th anniversary with its best ever Web3D Tech Talk. The tech talk will show case Web3D technology such as X3D and VRML that make web graphics easy and fun to deploy. Use of X3D is growing with content and applications in various sectors and across all hardware platforms. Join a large innovative community of content and application developers who see this standard as the future for deployment of real-time 3D graphics applications. Come see our X3D innovators show off their latest real-world 3D applications and content, and find out how you can use X3D for your 3D graphic needs.

    X3D Plugfest at Web3D Symposium

Saturday, August 9 from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm       Location: Medium Room

    X3D Plugfest Podcast

X3D content authors come and bring your favorite content to help improve browsers. Talk with X3D Browser Implementers and learn how to get your content viewing across all browsers.

Come join X3D vendors in testing X3D browser interoperability. This event will test how browsers are playing the same content. Bring your content to help improve browsers. Spec authors and browser implementors will be here to debate the finer points of the X3D specification and to defend their interpretations. Coming from the event we'll have a better understanding of what content works right between browsers and where the spec and implementations need more work. Presubmitted content will receive priority. We expect that we will run out time so presubmission is strongly recommended. This will allow everyone to have more time to review the material before hand. We expect to uncover the following types of issues:
  • Browser Bugs
  • Specification interpretation issues
  • Specification Errors
  • Invalid Content

  • This year we'd like to concentrate on X3D Interactive and Immersive level content. Ideally we'd like simple content that shows a single issue of concern. Please email your problem content to Alan Hudson. Include a description of the problem and the results from the browsers you've tested. Specify whether the content can be released publically or just distributed to browser implementors for testing. Ideally we would like the content by August 4th, if time permits we'll look at newly submitted material at the event.
Please join us at the Web3D Symposium to see the results and work through the issues. A report will be generated from the meeting detailing the issues found and the recommendations.

    Web3D Consortium Booth #139 - X3D Technology Exhibit

Meet the Web3D Consortium team in booth #139 at SIGGRAPH 2008 and become a part of this emerging standard. Come see our X3D innovators show off their latest real-world 3D applications and content, and find out how you can use X3D for your real-time 3D graphic needs. Web3D consortium will also host member companies to exhibit their X3D based technologies in our booth (#139). Technologies to be exhibited are Medical imaging, Scientific visualization, Geospatial, 3D education and CAD.
Experience the brand new Octaga Enterprise suite which is Octaga's most advanced 3D visualization solution used by Shell as their 3D visualization solution to support the maintenance of the Ormen Lange Gas field processing plant.
Bitmanagement will showcase textured 3D models of complete cities constructed automatically and visualized with the high performing BS Contact GeoVRML/X3D viewer interactively on the web.
Fraunhofer will amaze you with its augmented reality demonstration using pre-computed radiance transfer to simulate reflection of surrounding real light on the virtual object that is merged into the real scene.
Yumetech will be demonstrating applications developed using its Xj3D and ChefX3D toolkits, see several new applications being developed using these toolkits including domain specific editors for mass market 3D printing.
