7th Conference on Construction Applications of Virtual Reality :: Archived event

Web3D event
Date: Oct 22-23, 2007
Location: University Park, PA

Overview

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are exciting technologies that offer considerable potential benefits in all stages of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) process, from initial planning and conceptual design to facility management and operations. VR and AR allow people to see and interact with a building or infrastructure design and construction process prior to it being constructed.

CONVR 2007 will bring together researchers and practitioners in all areas of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry to promote the exchange of ideas for applying VR and AR. The objective of the conference is to report and disseminate ideas, progress, and products of innovative international research activities in this field and formulate strategies for future research directions.

The Computer Integrated Construction Research Program at The Pennsylvania State University is proud to host this conference. We will provide interactive tours of our visualization labs along with a tour of the new Stuckeman Family Building, a LEED Gold building constructed for the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.

Call for Papers

Authors are encouraged to submit papers related to research and development topics focused on the use of virtual and augmented reality for the design, construction, operations and maintenance of buildings and the built environment. Papers can focus on research related to new algorithms or theory, case studies, new practices, organizational issues, and implementation of VR, AR and Interactive Workspaces. Topics may include:

Design visualization
Construction visualization
Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Visual simulation for community planning
Modeling the physics of buildings
3D Geographical Information Systems
3D Engines / game engines
Autonomous Agents in Virtual and Augmented Environments
Human-computer interaction in virtual environments
Mobile and wearable computing
Virtual reality standards for AEC visualization (e.g., X3D, VRML)
Virtual reality in education and training applications
Collaborative visual and augmented environments
Interactive media environments
Ontologies for modeling and visualization
Industry participation is strongly encouraged.
