Configurator for online visualization of technical products
The Challenge
Web enabled 3D product configurators are one of the dreams of the internet age, because customers can assemble the products to their needs interactively and reduce costs. High visual quality and interaction are especially important for showcasing large products such as the Airbus A380 airplane.
The Solution
As a renderer BS Contact VRML/X3D from Bitmanagement was used to switch between different textures to show various configurations for brands and seat layouts. The model even exhibits a seamless transition between different configurations. 3D configurators such as the airbus model with attractive user interfaces can be easily developed with X3D technology as 3D objects can be placed on a heads up display mode and can be treated as a 3D world within a 3D world.
