Some tips for getting around on Web3D.org and getting your questions on X3D answered

I often get questions on where to discuss X3D development and ask questions, where to post new releases, how to get on Web3D email lists and forums, etc. Well, most of these questions can be answered online and accomplished directly on Web3D.org. Here’s how:

Some basics on how to get around Web3D.org and take advantages of the site’s many useful features, most of which are public:

If you are already a Web3D member, consider becoming a member of the X3D group here (you will need to log into web3d.org first with your web3d login and password): http://www.web3d.org/cgi-bin/member_list_signup/lwgate/X3D/

If you are an X3D developer, please join and post on our public X3D technical forums. You should post technical queries on our message board in fact; you will be answered quickly. You can register here: http://www.web3d.org/message_boards/

If you have technical product releases of any kind, you can fill out a form to let us know and we will post them on our site automatically. Start here: http://www.web3d.org/tools/ and look for the “Add Listing” button on the top left side of the page.

If you have X3D models, fill out this form to let us know and we will post them on our site as soon as we can. See http://www.web3d.org/community/models/submit/

And if you wish to receive generic X3D and Web3D news such as you are reading right now, sign on for our newsletter here:

Our blog is available as a subscription thru your favorite RSS reader: http://www.web3d.org/blog/

Our favorite del.icio.us link are here: http://del.icio.us/web3d/ (and growing quickly I might add!)

Our wiki is here: http://www.web3d.org/x3d/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

We’ve had at least a half dozen new case studies come in the past month or so.
