X3D Community Blog

Welcome to the X3D Community Weblog
X3D is a big topic - it address many different markets from virtual reality, to medicine, to CAD, to military simulation, to GIS, to information indexing and more. It is fully scalable so it can be used on everything from mobile phones to and can be used as anything from a simple file format to a full interactive rendering engine. And it is finally beginning to take off - with many browsers, new applications, and real world uses.
This is why we have launched the X3D Community Weblog - we wanted to let developers (and armchair developers) from many different perspectives, comment on their experiences with developing and using X3D in real world applications.
Most of the posts will probably focus on technical and use ideas for X3D, including the trials and tribulations of developing X3D applications, deployment issues, and idea for integration with other XML-based applications. Some will be interesting philisophical ventures. Overall, we hope that someone reading this blog will get a a little bit inspired to start their own X3D project, join an open source project, or try to figure out new ways to use the XML goodness of X3D.
We already have a lot of people…
